This blog breaks most of the rules, including those I usually recommend to people.
The articles are short, rather than long – that’s bad for SEO.
The home page is just a blog feed (at least – until I change it again) – that’s bad for conversions.
Rather than driving traffic to my site, I send entire posts like this one via email to my subscribers – nobody even needs to click – that’s bad because I can’t monitor behaviour and tweak accordingly.
In fact, the palsy-ridden email marketing software I’m using to send my emails doesn’t give me any statistics at all for now.
Yep – I’m due to be ejected from the internet marketing community any time now.
But here’s the problem – I write here because I enjoy writing. That’s it.
If everyone stopped reading I’d be a little sad, but I wouldn’t stop writing.
If the rules mean you’re copying someone else in order to score points, then the rules are killing your soul.
Because blogs aren’t always about rules, brand or business. Sometimes they are about people – like you, like me.
